House of Illustration Exhibitions June 2016
A couple of projects due to be released very soon! I cannot wait. I have also been working a lot on my own work in between commissions, I am hoping start bringing the work online in the coming months.
In the meantime I have been spending lots of time visiting galleries and exhibitions. Always nice to get the creative juices flowing.
Today I went to the House of Illustration to have a look at their Soviet Children't book exhibition and of course the Quentin Blake exhibition galleries.
I was really fascinated by the compositions of some of the children't book layouts and also the choice of colour and the limited palettes, really got me thinking about the place of colour in my work.
Quentin Blake's BFG work obviously lovely, some lovely half tones with ink I too enjoy working with.
Of course the exhibition also brought back fond memories of reading the BFG for the very first time. I finished all the school books in infants and my year two teacher kindly lent me her copy of the BFG which I promptly spilt black current juice over.
