The Museum of Water and Steam Had Some Pretty Special Moments

Today I went to the museum of Water and Steam in South West London. Super important learning tangent re the water systems in place and how the materials have changed throughout time in order to toughen and adapt for longevity. It's crazy that we take it for granted when we sip a cool glass of water straight from the tap. However when I went into the back I was completely blown away by this amazing system and space. Seeing these cast sections of metal and the bevelling and design that had gone into creating the small parts; as well as design and skill was breathtaking. Each piece shaped and manufactured by human hands and specialist tools. I also did some sketching which I will post afterwards. The stairs and balcony spaces created to maintain the machinery in themselves were works of art. I would definitely recommend visiting this museum of a sunshine, frosty winters afternoon.

Sketchbook: Surfing Break Sketches

Just had a great surfing break with my other half on the South West coast. Mad waves and sunshine have left me feeling pretty refreshed, bit of a shock to be back in London.

Here's a sketch I did whilst sitting on the beach.

Commissioned Illustration Work For the Wallace Collection. Special Exhibition Notebooks!

Earlier this year I was approached by the Wallace Collection to illustrate from their collection for a range of notebooks for their current exhibition Sir Richard Wallace: The Collector. I'm now excited to say these are available to buy. I really enjoyed working on this commission. Thank you to all Wallace Collection!

A Selection of My Limited Edition Prints Are Currently On Show at Blackwell the Arts and Crafts House

I have a selection of limited edition prints on show at Blackwell the Arts and Crafts House in the Lake District.

The house is a beautiful example of the Arts and Craft movement both inside and out. A movement that has been influential to my practice, providing inspiration for the individual handmade object and bespoke craftsmanship. Sketching and drawing in places of inspiration is an integral part of my practice, MH Baillie Scott’s Arts and Craft house, Blackwell, has been one of them.

As well as a being a stunning place to visit, my work will be running alongside their fantastic programme of exhibitions in the coming months including contemporary ceramics and the work of Turner Prize winner, Grayson Perry.

These limited edition's and will be on sale at Blackwell for the duration of the show.

Some of my favourite rooms and details of the house below.

Refresh

During the last few months I have had a lot of illustration work on and today I took some time to reflect whilst giving my indoor plants a quick shower (this takes away the dust and any unwanted residue, keeping the pores of the leaves clear and fresh).

Since the beginning of the year I have completed a number of commissioned projects and moved studios, I am now looking forward to the year ahead and hope to share more drawings with you. Since finishing the last commission I have rekindled my love of sketchbooking throughout the day - very refreshing!
